The EUR is a part of Rome that was designed for the world exhibition of 1942, which did not take place due to World War Two. 1952 construction work was taken up again and the quarter converted into the new economic center of the city. Foro Italico was constructed in the same period with the purpose of establishing of a sport school for various disciplines.
